In recent years, the phrase “cookie-cutter” has taken on a negative connotation. Cookie-cutter houses. Cookie-cutter lesson plans. A cookie-cutter approach to (fill in the blank). If it’s mass-produced or unoriginal, we give it that label.

What a shame. Because at Christmastime, few things are better than rolling out some dough and using a holiday-themed cookie cutter to create a plate full of stars, trees, bells, candy canes, snowmen, stockings, and other fun shapes. Whether dusted with sugar or decorated in detail, Christmas cookies open up realms of creative possibilities. Best of all, they’re always Santa-approved. Here are a few of the newest tools and gadgets catching our eye this holiday season.
